About Our Commercial Fire Alarm Service

At Gold Standard Security Scotland, we carry out commercial fire alarm installation and maintenance across Glasgow and the central belt, for shops, offices, pubs, restaurants and venues. No two premises are the same, so we survey the building first and fit the system your fire risk assessment calls for.

If you need alarms for your own home, our fire alarm installation for homes covers interlinked smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms for flats and houses.

Built to Your Fire Risk Assessment

The assessment decides what your premises needs. We plan the system around the layout, the floors and how people move through the building.

Fire Alarm Servicing and Maintenance

We service and maintain the fire alarms we fit, so you have one team to call if anything needs attention.

Clear Handover

Once the system is fitted and tested, we walk your team through it, so everyone knows how it works before we leave.

One Company for Your Security

We also install CCTV and intruder alarms, so one company can look after your fire alarm and your security.

Fire Alarms for Your Business

Every business is quoted individually after a free survey, because a shop, a two-floor office and a busy pub all need something different.

Shops

Offices and Workplaces

Free survey

For offices and other workplaces, whether you have one floor to yourself or share a building with other businesses.

Pubs, Restaurants and Venues

Free survey

For busy premises with kitchens, late nights and a full room, where the alarm has to be heard over the noise.

Our Approach to Commercial Fire Alarms

From a single shop unit to an office over several floors, every fire alarm we fit for a business follows the same four steps.

1. Free Site Survey

We visit your premises and walk the building with you, looking at the layout, the floors and your fire risk assessment.

2. Written Quote

You receive a written quote setting out the system your assessment calls for and the installation, so there is nothing to work out after our engineers arrive.

3. Installation and Handover

Our engineers fit and test the system, working tidily and with minimal disruption to staff and customers, then walk your team through it.

4. Ongoing Maintenance

We keep the system serviced and maintained, so it stays reliable as your premises, your staff and your opening hours change over time.

Hear From Our Clients

Frequently Asked Questions

We have answered the most common questions about fire alarms for business premises. Where an answer touches on the law, we link to the Scottish Government’s fire safety guidance, so you can read it for yourself.

Does my business need a fire alarm system?

It depends on your fire risk assessment. Where a warning from one spot would not be heard everywhere, the guidance says a system is likely to be needed.

Who is responsible for fire safety in business premises?

The employer, and anyone else who runs the premises or has any control over them. That might include factors, landlords, tenants, owners, managers and staff.

How often should a business fire alarm be tested and serviced?

Scottish guidance gives these examples:

  • A daily check of the control panel
  • A weekly test using a call point
  • Servicing and maintenance every six months

Some six-monthly and annual checks may be done by a specialist, usually under a service contract. We service and maintain the systems we install.

What is a category M fire alarm system?

Break-glass call points and sounders, with no automatic detection. Someone has to see the fire and raise the alarm.

Which standard covers business fire alarm systems?

British Standard BS 5839: Part 1. The Scottish guidance points to it for the design, installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems.

Who is responsible for the fire risk assessment?

Whoever controls the premises, usually the employer. Many use a specialist fire risk assessor; we do not carry them out.

Does a small shop or office need a fire alarm system?

Not always. In some small premises a fire may be obvious soon after it starts, and where everyone is close to a way out, a shouted warning may be enough.

Do you offer fire alarm maintenance for the systems you install?

Yes. We service and maintain the systems we install, so any fault is dealt with by the people who fitted them.

How do I get a quote for a business fire alarm?

Call or WhatsApp 07706 303074, email us or use the contact form, and we will arrange a free survey of your premises and a written quote.
